The club was founded in November 1991 with the aim to preserve the remaining line Klostermansfeld-Hettstedt, to organise public steam trains on this line, and to contribute to the preservation of the long mining heritage of the Mansfeld area.
A number of special trains (usually with diesel locomotives) runs for groups of children and school classes, making the railway to a living museum in the context railway / mining / local history.
The club maintains the railway and the rolling stock, and carries out all traffic.

Financial support is therefore always welcome.
